We have an important update to post regarding Waivers for the 2014 Boston Marathon.
Our waivers were received yesterday, and will be awarded on Sunday Jan 5th at our annual meeting immediately following the Bob Hersey 5 Mile Run at Fitchburg Knights of Columbus.
As most of you know- interest in running Boston has been tremendous in light of last years events. The BAA has increased the Field size, and also offered Waivers to those who were not able to complete the race(within reason).
In addition the above- the BAA has lowered its allocation of Waivers to the various area running clubs. This will have affect many of our Club Members who have volunteered countless hours in Club events during the past year. Our amount of Waivers for the 2014 Race is 7. In addition to this there is a “hard deadline” for these to be sent in with no extension. The price is $325, and the absolute deadline for return is Friday January 24th.
Those of you who have volunteered in an effort to get a number for 2014 may now be in jeopardy of getting a number. To give everyone an idea of where they stand(and to begin making other plans to find a number)- I will post the Volunteer Point Standings within a few days. The results are being tabulated now.
The letter from the BAA listing our allocation will be available for display during the Annual Meeting.
